My visit to Villa Clementina in Zemst, Belgium, was an inspiration. Here we see all the best principles of inclusive early childhood activity in action. Using a synergistic approach that draws the community, families, volunteers and staff together around the children, play, curiosity and learning are enhanced for children with and without disabilities. I think what I liked most was the quiet energy, the ability to do individual work with children without losing the social milieu and the sense of shared partnership amongst all who share time there in that sublime location. A belief in the individual ability of each child and the balance between nurturing, engaging and supporting young children who are learning to live life together without a focus on differences, impressed me and I will take home to Australia the smiles and the momentum of all I connected with at Villa Clementina. Long may you run!
